About

Focus and Scope

JMPhil is an open access philosophy journal that publishes papers on the history of philosophy from the 16th century to the turn of the 20th century. There is no word limit on submissions, although economy of expression is encouraged. We aim to review submissions fairly and quickly. Reviewing is double blind. All submissions that fit the scope of the journal and meet basic norms of scholarly publishing will be sent out for review, and we send submissions to two reviewers whenever possible. We aim for a time to decision of less than eight weeks for all papers. Authors retain copyright under the CC BY-NC license. Accepted papers are published as soon as they are copyedited and typeset.

JMPhil does not require any submission fees or author processing charges (APCs).

Publication Frequency

The journal is published online as a continuous volume and issue throughout the year. Articles are made available as soon as they are ready to ensure that there are no unnecessary delays in getting content publicly available.

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge. There is no embargo on the journal’s publications. The dates each manuscript was submitted and accepted on are published on the PDF version.

Authors of articles published remain the copyright holders and grant third parties the right to use, reproduce, and share the article according to the Creative Commons (CC-BY-NC) license agreement.

Journal Archiving

The journal’s publisher focuses on making content discoverable and accessible through indexing services. Content is also archived around the world to ensure long-term availability.

To ensure permanency of all publications, this journal also utilizes CLOCKSS to create permanent archives for the purposes of preservation and restoration.
